Visit to Shandong Jianzhu University by Vice President José Jiménez-González of the University of Jaén, Spain
April 3, 2026 – José Jiménez-González, Vice President for International Affairs of the University of Jaén, Spain, together with Myriam Cano Rubio, Director of the International Exchanges Office, paid a visit to Shandong Jianzhu University. Yu Dehu, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and President, and Zhao Jilong, Vice President, met with the delegation.
Yu Dehu extended a warm welcome to the guests. He noted that Professor Luis Martínez of the University of Jaén has visited Shandong Jianzhu University multiple times for lectures and academic exchanges, laying a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation with broad prospects. He looked forward to in-depth discussions on cooperation initiatives to expand and strengthen practical collaboration, achieve complementary advantages and mutual benefits.
José Jiménez-González thanked the university for the warm hospitality, briefed the hosts on the University of Jaén, and expressed strong interest in expanding exchanges and cooperation with Shandong Jianzhu University.
At the cooperation symposium, Vice President Zhao Jilong introduced Shandong Jianzhu University’s history, disciplinary strengths, development advantages and international cooperation. He stated that the two universities enjoy sound cooperation foundations and hoped to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen collaboration in joint education, faculty and student exchanges, joint postgraduate supervision (master’s and doctoral programs), and scientific research, so as to contribute to educational and people-to-people exchanges between China and Spain.
Myriam Cano Rubio also voiced willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and put forward specific cooperation items and implementation steps. Representatives from four schools of Shandong Jianzhu University presented their respective histories, academic programs, research fields and cooperation intentions. The two sides then held constructive discussions on faculty and student visits, joint postgraduate training, research collaboration and joint education programs, reaching consensus on a wide range of issues.
Zhao Jilong and José Jiménez-González signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities.
The delegation also visited teaching and research facilities and campus landscapes, and spoke highly of the university’s rich architectural culture and excellent educational conditions.
Founded in 1993, the University of Jaén is a public university in Andalusia, Spain, with three campuses and its main campus located in Jaén, southern Spain, about 300 kilometers from Madrid. It offers more than 120 undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs across science, engineering, art, humanities, health sciences, social sciences, law, education and business. With about 15,000 enrolled students, the university excels in computer science and mechatronics, serving as a key hub for talent cultivation and scientific innovation in southern Spain.
The event was attended by relevant staff from the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, School of Management Engineering, Business School, School of Computer and Artificial Intelligence, and School of Science.
