Professor Cord Eberspächer from the University of Bonn, Germany Visits Shandong Jianzhu University
On March 24, 2026, Professor Cord Eberspächer from the China Research Center of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in Germany and his delegation visited Shandong Jianzhu University. Wang Qingbiao, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, met with the guests.

Wang Qingbiao extended a warm welcome to the guests coming from afar and briefed them on the university's school-running characteristics, disciplinary advantages, current situation of international exchanges and cooperation, as well as its future development plans. He stated that Shandong Jianzhu University attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with German universities. As a world-renowned university, the University of Bonn is expected to conduct in-depth discussions on cooperation matters with Shandong Jianzhu University and gradually carry out pragmatic and efficient exchanges and cooperation.

Professor Cord Eberspächer introduced the basic situation of the University of Bonn. He pointed out that the University of Bonn also attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities. He first came to China as early as 1992 and has since visited China numerous times for lectures and exchanges. He has been actively engaged in the research of Chinese history and culture for many years and once served as the foreign director of the Confucius Institute in Düsseldorf, Germany. He has a deep affection for China and hoped that this visit would enable in-depth exchanges with Shandong Jianzhu University and promote the university's exchanges and cooperation with the University of Bonn and other German universities.

Subsequently, Professor Cord Eberspächer and his delegation held discussions on exchanges and cooperation with relevant personnel from the International Office, School of Foreign Languages, School of Business, and School of International Education of Shandong Jianzhu University, reaching consensus on many aspects. The participants put forward constructive suggestions and cooperation intentions based on their respective fields, creating a lively atmosphere and achieving remarkable results. Taking this meeting as an opportunity, the two sides will gradually carry out exchanges and cooperation in joint student training, mutual visits of teachers and students, and cooperation in teaching and scientific research.
After the meeting, Professor Cord Eberspächer and his delegation visited the campus landscapes, including the Phoenix Mansion, Seaweed Houses, Old Villas, Daiyue No.1 Residence, and the Railway Architecture Exhibition Hall. With the enthusiastic explanations from the students, Professor Cord Eberspächer gained a deeper understanding of China's land deed culture and the architectural culture of the Qilu region, and spoke highly of them.

Founded in 1786, the University of Bonn has 8 faculties, with approximately 35,000 students and more than 6,000 faculty and staff members, including over 500 professors. Its disciplinary and professional settings cover numerous fields such as economics, law, mathematics, agronomy, physics, computer science, immunology, and space science. The university library has a collection of more than 5 million books, making it an important academic institution in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the 2024-2025 rankings, the university ranked 61st in the world in the ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and 91st in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Eleven Nobel laureates have emerged from its alumni and scholars.
