On August 8, Professor Roger Ruan, academician of the National Academy of Inventors and director of the Department of Biological Products and Biosystems Engineering of the University of Minnesota, was invited to our university to make an academic report. Qiu Liping, member of the Party Committee and Vice President, warmly received Professor Roger Ruan, extended a warm welcome to Professor Roger Ruan, and introduced the history, characteristics and scientific research of our university. He pointed out that Shandong Jianzhu University adheres to open education and strengthens scientific research cooperation with internationally renowned universities, and Professor Roger Ruan's visit will provide strong guidance and help for the scientific research development of our university. The report was presided over by Cui Ping, Vice president of the School of Thermal Energy Engineering, and Professor Wang Yunpu, Deputy director of the Science and Technology Department of Nanchang University, attended the report as a special guest. Sheng Hongmei, deputy Director of the Scientific Research Department of our university, Zhou Shoujun, deputy dean of the School of Thermal Energy Engineering, and related teachers and graduate students attended the report.

With the title of "Microwave Assisted Catalytic Pyrolysis of Solid Waste for Energy Fuel Production", Professor Roger Ruan elaborated on the latest research and application of microwave catalytic pyrolysis technology in the resource utilization of solid waste such as biomass and waste plastics to produce energy fuel, and explained the independently developed equipment. Professor Roger Ruan's report has both theoretical depth and application breadth, showing his profound academic attainments and sharing his successful experience in industry-university-research cooperation. After the report, Professor Ruan had an in-depth exchange with the teachers and students and patiently answered the questions raised by everyone. He pointed out that scientific and technological workers should combine scientific research with the actual needs of enterprises, promote the transformation of the achievements and technologies, and help the high-quality development of social economy.
