Yang Jingbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Jianzhu University, led a delegation to visit Malaysia and Vietnam

From September 21st to 26th, Yang Jingbo, Secretary of the Party Committee, led a delegation on a visit to Malaysia and Vietnam to promote the international exchange and cooperation of Shandong Jianzhu University. Through various forms such as visiting universities, participating in education exhibitions and exchange meetings, and calling on Chinese-funded enterprises and embassies, the delegation actively conducted exchanges and docking, promoted practical cooperation, and achieved fruitful results. The delegation visited 5 universities successively, signed 2 memorandums of understanding, paid visits to 2 overseas institutions and enterprises, attended the launching ceremony of major Shandong-Malaysia educational cooperation projects, and participated in the Shandong Higher Education Exhibition (Malaysia Station) and the Shandong-Hanoi University Presidents' Dialogue and Exchange Activity.

During the delegation's visit to the Universiti Malaya, they inspected some laboratories and the Asian Art Museum of the university, and held in-depth discussions with Vice-Chancellor Noor Azuan Abdul Hamid, Deputy Vice-Chancellors Sinnadurai Ramesh and Hasniza Zaman, as well as deans of the Faculty of Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, on matters such as joint education programs, co-establishing a green building research institute, and deepening scientific research cooperation in the field of green building. The delegation of Shandong Provincial Department of Education and the delegation of Qingdao University also participated in the exchange activity.

                                                      

During the delegation's visit to the Malaysia Campus of Xiamen University, they held talks and exchanges with Wang Ruifang, Chancellor of the campus, and Ding Yu, Director of the Chancellor's Office. Chancellor Wang Ruifang introduced the campus's history and distinctive features of running the school, and the two sides exchanged views on matters related to exchange and cooperation.

                                                       

During the delegation's visit to Taylor's University, they held exchanges with Deng Huijun, Director of the International Business Development and International Office, Lin Libin, Supervisor of Joint Education Programs, and Shi Xueyan, an alumni representative. They conducted in-depth discussions on matters such as the application for Sino-foreign joint education programs, short-term student exchange programs, and collaborative scientific research, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two universities.

                           

During the delegation's visit to the University of Science, Malaysia (USM), they held talks with Rafiza Hashim, Head of International Affairs, and Professor Azlan Shah Ali from the School of Computer Sciences and Information Technology. The two sides mainly discussed matters such as the exchange of teachers and students, and the joint development of disciplines and programs.

                           

                           

During their visit to Malaysia, the delegation also participated in the launching event of major Shandong-Malaysia educational cooperation projects, and conducted in-depth exchanges with representatives from the Malaysia Education Exchange Association and representatives of Malaysian universities. This has effectively promoted the exchange and cooperation between Shandong Jianzhu University and universities in Malaysia.

                           

                           

The delegation also participated in the Shandong Higher Education Exhibition (Malaysia Station) organized by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education. At the exhibition, they fully demonstrated the disciplinary and professional advantages of Shandong Jianzhu University to Malaysian high school students and welcomed them to study at the university.

                           

                           

                           

During the visit to Vietnam, the delegation first participated in the Shandong-Hanoi University Presidents' Dialogue and Exchange Activity. On behalf of the Shandong universities present, Yang Jingbo delivered a speech. He stated that China and Vietnam are close neighbors linked by a common river, with a long history of exchanges. Universities of the two countries have a solid foundation for cooperation and high alignment in professional fields. Shandong universities look forward to joining hands with Vietnamese universities, especially those in Hanoi, to build more exchange platforms and comprehensively promote higher education cooperation between Shandong Province and Hanoi. Subsequently, Yang Jingbo had cordial exchanges with university leaders from Vietnam National University of Forestry, Trinh Vu University, Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi Metropolitan University and other institutions, advancing exchange and cooperation with various universities in Hanoi.

                                 

                           

During the visit to Hanoi Architectural University, the delegation held talks with Pham Xuan Anh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of Hanoi Architectural University, and Nguyen Hoang Giang, Vice Rector of the university, among others, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the two universities. Based on the similar development histories and highly comparable discipline and program offerings of the two universities, the two sides exchanged views on teacher-student exchanges, joint postgraduate training, and collaborative scientific research. In particular, they agreed to leverage the design groups of both universities to strengthen cooperation and research in the field of green architecture, and jointly promote the cooperation and development of the two institutions. Both sides stated that the two universities will carry out practical cooperation, support each other, and achieve common development; they also expressed their intention to participate in each other's series of events celebrating the 70th and 60th anniversaries of their founding in 2026 respectively.

                           

                           

During the visit, the delegation also paid a call to the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia. Through this visit, the delegation gained a thorough understanding of Malaysia's higher education sector, which provided policy support for future joint education programs with Malaysian universities.

Additionally, the delegation visited the Malaysia Branch of Yantai Construction Group and held talks with Wen Aiwu, President of Yantai Construction Group. Yang Jingbo expressed gratitude to Yantai Construction Group for its support to the university in areas such as graduate employment and internship programs. Meanwhile, via the Malaysia Branch of Yantai Construction Group, the delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of Malaysia's demand for foreign-related architectural talents.

Both parties stated that they will further strengthen cooperation to cultivate more international talents who possess a sense of national identity, a global perspective, and a good command of international rules.

                                   

The delegation visited the Malaysia-One Belt One Road Economic Friendship Association (OBOR Association) and held talks with Qiu Guoping, Secretary-General of the Association, and Shi Zhe, Director of the Association's Industry-Education Integration Committee. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on matters such as student exchanges, internship and practical training, scientific research cooperation, and the joint construction of innovation and entrepreneurship platforms. The One Belt One Road Economic Friendship Association will provide more overseas internship and employment opportunities for students of Shandong Jianzhu University.

                           

During the visit, the delegation also met with the university's alumni who are studying or working in Malaysia and Vietnam. Yang Jingbo encouraged the alumni abroad to, on the premise of ensuring their safety, excel in their academic studies and work, and demonstrate the exemplary demeanor of outstanding graduates of Shandong Jianzhu University. He also welcomed the alumni to return to their alma mater frequently to contribute to its development, and stated that the university will establish the Southeast Asia Alumni Chapter of the Shandong Jianzhu University Alumni Association in due course.

                           

                           

The delegation made full use of the opportunity of the visit. While successfully completing the visit tasks with high quality, it fully presented Shandong Jianzhu University to people from all walks of life in Malaysia and Vietnam through various forms, which significantly enhanced the university's influence in Southeast Asia. Song Shoujun, Director of the Party Committee Office (President's Office); Meng Fei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of the School of Geomatics and Geoinformation; Li Duanjie, Chairman and General Manager of the Design Group Co., Ltd.; and Li Guichun, Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office (also serving as interpreter), accompanied the delegation on the visit.
