The panel session on “Resilient City and Smart Development” under the 5th China-CEEC Capital Mayors Forum & the 5th “Belt and Road” Architecture Universities InternationalConsortium(BRAUIC) Annual Conference was held on the afternoon of November 19 online and offline. The conference consisted of two stages: the opening ceremony and the technical discussion on “Resilient City and Smart Development”. As one of the founding members ofBRAUIC, Shandong Jianzhu University participated in the conference at thebranch venue in our campus.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, President Yu Dehu delivered a video speech to congratulate the successful convening of the conference, and called on all members to work together and strengthen cooperation and communications for a promising future of the “Belt and Road”.Present at the branch venue were the heads of the School of Civil Engineering, School of Management Engineering, School of Art, School of Materials Science and Engineering, all staff of the International Exchanges and Cooperation Office, School of International Education, and representatives of teachers and students from the School of Arts. Including our school, a total of 39 universities from 15 countries participated in the conference.
The conference was hosted by the People's Government of Beijing Municipality(China) andthe government ofSarajevo Municipality(Bosnia-Herzegovina), co-hosted by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture(BUCEA) and University of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and co-organized by member universities ofBRAUIC, with the theme of “Resilient City and Smart Development”. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Dayu, Chairman ofBRAUIC, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BUCEA. Relevant leaders, such as those from BUCEA, Beijing, Sarajevo, and representatives of China-CEEC cooperation government , executive chairman ofBRAUICAnnualConference, delivered speeches to the conference respectively. At the meeting, three initiatives were officially released,the “Belt and Road” Architecture University International Consortium(BRAUIC) Development Declaration,the “BeltandRoad" Architecture University International Consortium(BRAUIC) Five-Year Action Plan (2021-2025), andthe “Global Campus-Summer School Sharing Plan”. In the future, BRAUIC will continue to promote the mutual recognition of credits, academic qualifications, and mutual degree grants among members, promote preparations for the establishment of joint laboratories and research centers, and plan to build the “Belt and Road” architectural cultural heritage list and database.

At the conference, awardswere presentedto the winning works of the 2021 International University Architectural Design and Digital Modeling Competition. The competition set up three topics: architectural design, civil structure, digital modeling of buildings and scenes. A total of more than 500 teachers and students from 34 universities in 13 countries participated in the competition. The works “Bees’ Travel” and “Pan Yun Shui He” directed by Teacher Zhang Lili from our School of Art won respectively the third prize and the Excellence Award in the topic of digital modeling of architecture and scenes. Teacher Zhang Lili won the "Excellent Instructor Award".
BRAUIC was initiated and established by BUCEA and other universities in 2017. Currently, there are 72 universities from 27 countries such as Russia, Poland, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Armenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Malaysia, Greece, Nepal, Israel, etc. During these four years, BRAUIC has paid practical efforts in comprehensively deepening the exchanges and cooperation among universities in the countries along the “Belt and Road”, promoting the comprehensive reform of education and internationalization of education, building platforms for international talent training, scientific and technological collaborative innovation and cultural exchanges, and improving the vitality, education quality,level ofscientific research and international exchanges and cooperation in universities. All members will continue to uphold the Silk Road spirit of “Peaceful Cooperation, Openness and Inclusiveness, Mutual Learning, Mutual Benefit and Win-Win”, strengthen the interconnection of all parties, deepen practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges by expanding the international cooperation network, building an international innovation platform, and promoting the cultivation of international talents, thus pushing BRAUIC to a new stage of more healthy, efficient and scientific high-quality development.
