Founded in 1958,this program is a national first-class undergraduate program,a national characteristic program,a national engineering education certification program,and a first-class discipline in Shandong Province. It has a master's degree authorization of first-level discipline,and is a supporting discipline of the doctoral talent training program of "Green Building Technology and Theory" that serves the special needs of the country. It has the innovation team of the Ministry of Education for "displacement and reinforcement of building structures",the excellent scientific research and innovation team of Shandong universities for "Disaster prevention and reduction of Engineering structures", and the provincial teaching team of Shandong universities for "soil mechanics and Foundation". The program has built 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 2 national virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students, 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 8 key laboratories of Shandong Province, Collaborative innovation Center of Shandong Province and other provincial science and technology innovation platforms.

Teachers have undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects at the provincial or ministerial level (including more than 30 projects of National Natural Science Foundation; More than 30 monographs and textbooks have been published, and more than 700 academic papers have been published, among which more than 300 have been indexed by SCI and EI.
