It is graduation day for international students at Shandong Jianzhu University. This year, a total of 25 international undergraduate students from 9 countries including Italy, Canada, Zambia, Morocco, Nigeria and Congo successfully graduated, 15 of which majored in civil engineering and 10 of which majored in business administration. Since the outbreak of epidemic, we have been adhering to the teaching mode of “teaching online and learning offline”. The abroad international students overcame the difficulties caused about by the time difference and internet speeds, timely adjusted the learning state, learned by online and offline with the international students in school together, completed all courses prescribed in the training plan, obtained qualified goals, and passed the graduation project, thesis defense and other links according to the requirements.

On the morning of June 25, the graduation ceremony and degree conferment ceremony of the class of 2021 of Shandong Jianzhu University was held in the stadium. All school leaders, members of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of shandong Jianzhu University, heads of all departments, representatives of the master and doctoral supervisors of the class of 2021, representatives of students’ parents, representatives of alumni, all the graduates of the class of 2021 and 13 representatives of international students attended the ceremony. Members of the Academic Degree Assessment Committee conferred degrees and certificates to 13 international students.

On the evening of June 23, the international exchange and cooperation office and the school of international education held a memorable graduation celebration for the class of 2021. All the staff and faculty representatives of the office and the School, as well as the graduates of the class of 2021 and some students at school attended the celebration. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the celebration was carried out both online and offline in the form of leader speeches, graduation speeches, exchanges and performances. The director of the international exchange and cooperation office, Li Xiao, delivered a speech, hoping that all students from all over the world can never forget the friendship in Shandong Jianzhu university and in China, continue to spread Chinese culture, and be the envoy to enhance the world cultural exchanges and mutual learning. Students reminisced about their learning experiences, chatted about their past fun and enjoyed the wonderful performances, pushing the atmosphere to one climax after another. ISAAC SINKALA, a graduate from Zambia, majoring in civil engineering, expressed his sincere gratitude to school for its care and support to all international students. He said that after graduation, he would never live up to the cultivation of his school and teachers, and actively devote himself to the international civil engineering cause to win honour for school. Although some students were stranded abroad due to the epidemic and could not return to the campus to participate in the on-site graduation ceremony, they also deeply felt the warm atmosphere and deep friendship at the scene through the “cloud” connection, and successfully ended their four-year wonderful life in the university.
