Program Overview

This is a Chinese-foreign cooperative education program adopting the "4+0" dual-degree training model, integrating high-quality educational resources from both Chinese and foreign partners. The curriculum fully introduces core courses from the University of Salamanca. Core courses are delivered in English by professors from the University of Salamanca, assisted by Chinese instructors, forming a "dual-teacher collaborative" teaching mechanism. Students complete their four-year studies at Shandong Jianzhu University. Upon finishing all credits specified in the training program, graduates will obtain the undergraduate graduation certificate and bachelor’s degree certificate from Shandong Jianzhu University, as well as the bachelor’s degree certificate from the University of Salamanca.

Adhering to the talent development philosophy of "solid foundation, broad scope, strong practice and emphasis on innovation", the program draws on international engineering education standards and curriculum systems to cultivate interdisciplinary senior professionals with global vision, engineering practice ability and innovative spirit for the field of mechanical engineering.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the longest-established programs at Shandong Jianzhu University. It is a National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Site, a program under the Ministry of Education "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", a Shandong Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program, a Shandong Provincial Brand Program, one of the key construction programs for the first batch of application-oriented renowned universities in Shandong Province, and a high-level application-oriented construction program of Shandong Province.

Training Objectives

Adhering to the socialist orientation of education, the program takes cultivating well-rounded individuals of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor development — socialist builders and successors — as its fundamental mission. It practices core socialist values, serves national and international development in mechanical engineering and related fields as well as regional economic construction, and promotes the full implementation of cross-border engineering projects.

Students will develop a solid English foundation, global vision, cutting-edge international scientific and technological concepts, comprehensive humanistic literacy, a progressive innovative spirit and strong engineering practice ability. They will be qualified for technical development and services, engineering design and implementation, scientific research and application, production organization and management in the field of mechanical engineering, especially in pillar local industries such as construction machinery and equipment manufacturing as well as relevant international industries.

Through the "major + English" model, students will master international engineering standards and cross-cultural communication skills, and be competent in related work in international cooperation projects, multinational enterprises and overseas markets. They are expected to become technical or managerial backbones in their fields, and international application-oriented professionals with "strong sense of responsibility, proficient technical skills, competent management, practical focus and innovative pursuit".

Within approximately five years after graduation, graduates are expected to achieve the following objectives:

  • Maintain excellent ideological and moral cultivation, humanistic literacy, legal awareness, strong social responsibility and global service awareness in international engineering practice, strictly abide by international engineering professional ethics, devote themselves to cross-border engineering projects with full dedication, maintain physical and mental health, uphold professionalism including dedication, responsibility and willingness to contribute, and meet the professional requirements of the international engineering sector.

  • Establish a solid foundation in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences required for mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary fields, integrate core mechanical engineering knowledge with international engineering practice, develop interdisciplinary innovation awareness, analyze and solve practical engineering problems in cross-border contexts using mechanical engineering methodologies and cutting-edge international modern tools, and possess core competence in the design and development of international cooperative engineering projects.

  • Possess a global vision and cross-cultural communication and cooperation abilities, master international professional communication skills, have a strong sense of cross-cultural teamwork, act as key team members to undertake organization, coordination and international project management in the whole process of cross-border engineering projects, effectively promote cross-cultural teams to achieve engineering goals, and meet the needs of international business development.

  • Foster a sense of lifelong learning and international development, keep abreast of cutting-edge technologies in mechanical engineering and related interdisciplinary fields at home and abroad, continuously enhance comprehensive competence and interdisciplinary application capabilities in line with the development needs of the international engineering industry, and maintain adaptability to global trends in mechanical engineering.

In addition, distinctive and expanded courses such as Ecological Design in Engineering, Ethics and Intellectual Property Rights (★), Professional English for Mechanical Engineering (★), and Interdisciplinary Project Practice reflect the integration of international engineering education and China’s industrial standards.

Employment Directions

Graduates may work in mechanical manufacturing, construction machinery, automotive industry, energy equipment, research institutes, government agencies, institutions of higher education and other organizations, engaging in design and development of mechanical products and equipment, performance testing and technical improvement, mechanical manufacturing process planning, production management and quality control, construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance of industrial equipment and production lines, CNC programming, robot application and automation system integration, engineering project management, technical consulting and marketing, teaching, research and technology transfer, technical appraisal and expert report preparation.

Meanwhile, supported by the international recognition of dual degrees under the international engineering education mutual recognition system, graduates may enter the overseas job market and work for multinational machinery and equipment enterprises, international automotive and energy equipment companies, overseas Chinese-funded manufacturing enterprises, international engineering contractors, international consulting and certification bodies, overseas industrial parks and technical service institutions. They can be engaged in equipment selection and system integration in international projects, overseas factory planning and production operation management, technical compliance and quality certification in accordance with international standards, cross-border technology transfer and localized technical support, technical coordination and project management in international supply chains, as well as research and innovation of advanced manufacturing technology and intelligent equipment in international research institutions and high-tech multinational enterprises.

Graduates may also pursue postgraduate studies in related disciplines such as mechanical engineering, control science and engineering, materials science and engineering, data science and artificial intelligence engineering.
