Undergraduate Program: Introduction to Electrical Engineering and Automation, School of Salamanca, Shandong Jianzhu University

时间:2026-04-17

Program Overview

This is a Chinese-foreign cooperative education program adopting the "4+0" dual-degree training model, which integrates high-quality educational resources from both Chinese and foreign parties. The curriculum fully introduces core courses from the University of Salamanca, with core courses delivered in English by professors from the University of Salamanca and assisted by Chinese instructors, forming a "dual-teacher collaboration" mechanism. Students complete their four-year studies at Shandong Jianzhu University. Upon finishing the credits specified in the training program, they will obtain both the undergraduate graduation certificate and bachelor’s degree certificate from Shandong Jianzhu University and the bachelor’s degree certificate from the University of Salamanca.

Drawing on international engineering education concepts and curriculum systems, this program cultivates interdisciplinary senior professionals with international vision, engineering practice ability and innovative spirit for the field of electrical engineering.

Electrical Engineering and Automation is one of the longest-established programs of our university. After more than 50 years of development, it has formed distinctive educational characteristics and profound professional accumulation. It has been successively approved as a National Featured Specialty Construction Site, a specialty under the Ministry of Education "Excellent Engineers Education and Training Program", and a core specialty of the High-level Applied Construction Program (Group) of Shandong Province. In 2022, the program was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Site.

In 2023, the program officially passed China Engineering Education Accreditation (No. WA2023-C0127), meeting the international mutual recognition standards of the Washington Accord and achieving engineering education quality equivalent to international standards.

Training Objectives

Adhering to the socialist orientation of running schools, the program aims to "cultivate interdisciplinary electrical engineering talents with global competence and local engineering practice ability". Through the "major + English" training model, it is rooted in Shandong, serves national strategies and faces global development.

It cultivates students with well-rounded development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education, who practice core socialist values, master solid theories and professional skills in electrical engineering, and possess humanistic literacy, professional ethics and innovative spirit. Graduates are competent in electrical system design, intelligent operation and maintenance, and energy management in the global smart city and new energy industries, and are proficient in project collaboration and technical communication in cross-cultural contexts. They will become international high-end engineering and technical talents with "solid foundation, strong practice, proficient in electrical engineering and good at innovation", who understand smart city construction and master green energy application.

Within about five years after graduation, graduates are expected to achieve the following objectives:

  • Achieve well-rounded development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education, with humanistic literacy, professional ethics and social responsibility; have awareness of safety, environmental protection and sustainable development in electrical engineering practice, and possess patriotism and a sense of mission to serve the country through science and technology.

  • Be able to track cutting-edge technologies in global smart cities and new energy related fields, apply modern tools, possess solid professional knowledge and skills, and be competent in planning, design, construction, intelligent operation and maintenance of electrical engineering projects in relevant fields around the world.

  • Have engineering innovation spirit, be able to apply professional knowledge and engineering skills in electrical engineering, and possess the ability to identify, study and solve complex electrical engineering problems in smart cities and new energy related fields.

  • Have strong bilingual communication, coordination and electrical engineering project management capabilities in cross-cultural environments, and be able to serve as key members or leaders in international professional teams.

  • Possess global vision and cross-cultural adaptability, actively respond to global energy and environmental challenges, realize dynamic adaptation to career development through lifelong learning, and enhance global competitiveness.

Main Courses

The curriculum integrates teaching resources from both Chinese and foreign parties, with electrical engineering, control science and engineering, and computer science and technology as the core disciplines, forming a curriculum structure that emphasizes both theory and practice.

Core courses include Circuit Principles (★), Fundamentals of Electronics (★), Field Phenomena in Electrical Engineering (★), Electrical Machines (★), Industrial Electronics (★), Fundamentals of Automation (★), Power Systems (★), Power Grid Theory (★), Power System Relay Protection, Building Power Supply and Distribution, Principles and Applications of Single-Chip Microcomputers, Electric Power Transmission Lines (▲), Industrial Automation (★), Photovoltaic Technology and Installation (★), Renewable Energy Power Plants (★), etc.

In addition, distinctive and expanded courses such as Professional English, Smart Cities and CIM, Ecological Design in Engineering, Ethics and Intellectual Property Rights (★) reflect the integration of international engineering education and China’s industrial standards.

(Note: Courses marked with ★ are core professional courses introduced from the foreign partner and taught by foreign teachers; courses marked with ▲ are core professional courses introduced from the foreign partner and taught by Chinese teachers.)

Employment Directions

Graduates can engage in planning, design, operation and management in the field of power systems and automation, system design, construction organization and operation management of building electrical engineering, research and development and technical support of electrical equipment, automation systems and intelligent control systems, development and application of new energy and microgrid technologies, as well as engineering project management, technical consulting and quality supervision in power industries, architectural design institutes, construction enterprises, industrial and mining enterprises, research institutions and high-tech companies.

At the same time, relying on the recognition advantages of dual degrees in the international engineering education mutual recognition system, graduates can enter the overseas job market, working for multinational power enterprises, international engineering general contractors, overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, international consulting institutions, overseas new energy investment and development enterprises, international organizations and relevant overseas agencies. They can be engaged in preliminary planning, engineering design and construction management of overseas power infrastructure projects, technical compliance and quality supervision under international standard systems, operation and maintenance of electrical facilities in overseas factories, cross-border technology transfer and localized technical support. They also have the potential for career development in cutting-edge technology research and innovation practice in international academic institutions and high-tech multinational enterprises.
