School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
Founded in 1998, the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Shandong Jianzhu University currently offers four undergraduate programs, namely Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science and Big Data Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. It also boasts two master's degree programs: Software Engineering (Academic Degree) and Electronic Information in Computer Technology (Professional Degree). Among its programs, some are recognized as part of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" by the Ministry of Education, Shandong Provincial Distinctive Programs, and two Shandong Provincial First-class Programs.
The School adopts an organizational structure consisting of "Three Departments and One Division" and "Three Institutes and One Center". Specifically, the "Three Departments and One Division" refer to the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Software Engineering, the Department of Artificial Intelligence, and the Public Teaching Division. The "Three Institutes and One Center" include the Computational Intelligence Research Center, the Institute of Spatiotemporal Intelligence and Visual Perception, the Institute of Brain-Inspired Intelligence and Medical Computing, and the Institute of Software Engineering and Intelligent Computing. In recent years, the School has achieved leapfrog development in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and other key areas.
The School currently has 106 faculty members, among whom 75 are full-time teachers. Adhering to the talent introduction strategy of "attracting talents with talents", the School has assembled a high-caliber faculty team, including 2 national-level high-level talents, 1 recipient of the Shandong Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, 1 recipient of the Special Government Allowance of Shandong Province, and 5 provincial-level talents such as Taishan Scholars Young Experts and Shandong Young Talent Lifting Program recipients. It also houses 5 provincial-level research teams, including the Shandong University Youth Innovation Team. Committed to both introducing and nurturing talents, the School strengthens faculty development by recruiting outstanding scholars and high-level doctors, supporting and encouraging teachers to pursue overseas visits and further education, and continuously enhancing the teaching and research capabilities of the faculty team.
The School offers the academic master's program in Software Engineering and the professional master's program in Electronic Information. In the 2024 Soft Science Ranking, its Software Engineering discipline jumped to the 34th place nationwide, entering the top 30% of the country. Rooted in the development strategies of the country and Shandong Province, the School has built a full-chain innovation system covering "basic research - technological breakthroughs - international cooperation". Through the refinement of research directions and the development of research teams, it has formed a mutually supportive disciplinary layout focusing on spatiotemporal intelligence and visual perception, brain-inspired intelligence and medical computing, as well as software engineering and intelligent computing. In recent years, a series of research achievements have been made in these fields.
Presently, the School has 7 various scientific research platforms. It has undertaken over 20 key national and provincial-level research projects, such as Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Major Basic Research Projects of Shandong Province, and Shandong Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund Projects, along with more than 80 horizontal projects with enterprises, securing over 30 million yuan in research funding. It has also won more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research awards, including the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award.
Emphasizing industry-academia integration, the School actively conducts cooperation with industries to serve local economic development. It has developed the "Natural Resources Fund Monitoring and Supervision Software Platform", which has been highly praised by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and local governments, and won the Silver Award for Excellent Engineering in the Geographic Information Industry in 2024. Additionally, it has developed equipment such as large-scene handling robots, intelligent cleaning robots, and under-vehicle detection robots, which have been promoted and applied in industries including logistics, warehousing, pharmaceuticals, and automobile manufacturing. Relevant achievements have been reported by authoritative media such as CCTV News Channel 13, Shandong News Network, and Science and Technology Daily. A 10-million-yuan investment has been made by an enterprise to establish the Shandong Jianzhu University - Kailin Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute.
Leveraging the university's disciplinary accumulation in architecture, energy, and other fields, as well as the School's talent and research advantages in artificial intelligence, it has formed the disciplinary feature of "Intelligent Software + Energy (Industry) + Architecture (Industry/University Background)". Focusing on national strategies, the School has achieved technological innovations and breakthroughs in intelligent construction, smart energy, medical-engineering intersection, and computational intelligence, contributing to the economic development of the country and the region.
The School attaches great importance to fostering students' innovative capabilities and has built the "One-Center, Dual-Ring" innovation and entrepreneurship education system. Students win more than 100 provincial and above awards annually in discipline competitions included in the National University Discipline Competition Ranking. In 2024, the School won the National Silver Award in the "Challenge Cup" Competition, and in 2022, it also claimed the National Silver Award in the "Internet Plus" Competition. A number of outstanding undergraduate students have emerged, such as Shanli Shi (Class of 2017), who was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Communist Youth League Member" in 2021; and Quanjiang Chen (Class of 2013), who started a business in rural areas and won the National Excellence Award for University Graduates' Grassroots Employment in 2022.
In recent years, graduate students have published more than 50 high-level papers in journals such as TIFS, TMM, TCSVT, and PR, obtained over 30 authorized national invention patents, and won more than 70 awards including the Shandong Provincial Excellent Graduate Thesis Award, the Second Prize in the National Mathematical Modeling Competition (Huawei Cup), and the Second Prize in the National "Challenge Cup" Competition.

The School values the cultivation of international talents and has carried out joint doctoral training programs with Ulster University, a renowned public comprehensive university in the United Kingdom.
