The School of Materials Science and Engineering has a master's degree program in Materials Science and Engineering, a professional master's degree program in Materials and Chemical Engineering, and four undergraduate programs in Materials Forming and Control Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Welding Technology and Engineering and Inorganic Non-metallic Materials Engineering. It also has teaching and research platforms such as provincial key disciplines.There are more than 1,600 undergraduates and 100 postgraduates in the school. The laboratory area is 4018 square meters, and the total value of instruments and experimental equipment is more than 24.6 million yuan.

The school has 90 faculty members, including 19 professors, 31 associate professors, 2 doctoral supervisors and 54 master supervisors. 64 of them have doctor’s degrees. Three of them are among national-level talents, and five of them are among provincial-level talents.

In recent years, researchers from the school have undertaken nearly 20 national scientific research projects such as projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Also they have undertaken more than 30 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects and more than 80 topics entrusted by the government, enterprises and institutions; During recent years,scholars from the school received 8 provincial and ministerial awards; 175 academic papers have been published, of which more than 110 were SCI / EI indexed; 18 monographs and textbooks have been published; More than 100 invention patents have been authorized.

The school attaches importance to university-enterprise cooperation and continuously improves its social service ability. The school has established in-depth cooperative relations with more than 20 enterprises, such as China Railway 14th Bureau Group, Laigang Group, and Meide group. The school actively carried out the construction of school-enterprise scientific research platform, and cooperation to improve the technical research and talent training service, making important contributions to regional and industrial economic development.

In recent years, students have won more than 20 national awards and provincial awards, and applied for more than 100 patents. The proportion of undergraduate graduates pursuing postgraduate studies is nearly 30%, and the primary employment rate of graduates exceeds 95%.
