Introduction
Shandong Jianzhu University (SJU) is located in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province, P. R. China. Shandong Province is the cradle of Qilu Culture, one important culture with a history of more than five thousand years. Jinan is also called “Spring City” with many famous springs in different areas of the city.
Shandong Jianzhu University is an engineering-based multidisciplinary university with distinct advantages in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, and so on. Furthermore, the university encompasses a broad range of disciplines such as engineering, science, management, liberal arts, law and art.
The campus covers a land area of more than 160 hectares, with a building area of more than 660,000 square meters. The university includes 19 schools and 4 institutes. It provides 58 undergraduate programmes, 1 postdoctoral programmes, 1 PhD programme, 17 first-level master’s degree programmes, 62 second-level master’s degree programmes and 9 professional master’s degree programmes. It has currently 27,000 full-time students. There are 1998 full-time staff including 1,567 full-time academic staff, among which 888 have professor titles, 38 are PhD supervisors, 700 are postgraduate supervisors.
The university attaches profound importance to international exchanges and cooperation. With an open mind, the university has established partnerships with more than 60 universities of over 30 countries and regions, such as Australia, the USA, New Zealand, the UK, Canada, and so on. Currently 8 joint-programmes and more than 20 students exchanging programmes have been established. Moreover, the university pays attention to welcoming international experts and academics to work at the university or visit the university. The university is also one of the first authorized universities that are eligible to recruit international students. Students from all over the world are warmly welcome to study at SJU.
Catalogue of Programmes
Undergraduate programmes
Semester begins in September. The Letter of Admission shall be provided upon being accepted. Both bachelor’s degree and graduation certificate will be awarded after passing all exams and finishing the dissertation.
Undergraduate programmes in English
Currently SJU offers two undergraduate programmes taught in English.
1) Civil Engineering
Duration of study: 3-6 years, normally a 4-year programme.
2) Business Administration
Duration of study: 3-6 years, normally a 4-year programme.

Master’s programmes
Currently all master’s programmes are taught in Chinese.
Duration of study: 2-4 years, normally 3-year programmes.

The PhD programme is taught in Chinese.
Duration of study: normally a 4-year programme. Students can study for up to 6 years.

Eligibility
1. Applicants must be citizens with a valid foreign passports, whose nationalities are not People’s Republic of China.
2. Those overseas applicants who were residents of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan must have held the valid foreign passports or certificates of nationality for at least four years, and over two years (nine-month actual residence in foreign countries within one year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit date) of the actual foreign residence record within the last four years.
3. Guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old. The guardian should be in China.
Application Documents

2. Certificate of the Highest Education qualifications and its corresponding official examination results. The original copy must be in Chinese or English with official stamps of the authorized educational institute or notarized copy in Chinese or English translation. Graduating students should provide a certificate of current study.
Applicants for undergraduate programmes should hold high school certificate or above.
Applicants for Master’s programmes should hold bachelor’s degree or above.
Applicants for Phd programmes should hold master’s degree or above.
3. Applicants for Master’s or PhD programmes should provide 2 recommendation letters signed by your teacher with the title of Professor or Associate Professor.
4. Applicants for Chinese taught programmes should hold a certificate of HSK 4 (above 180 points);
Applicants for English taught programs should provide IELTS or TOELF test results or English Proficiency certificates. Those who complete high school or university courses in English should provide relevant evidence; English-speaking applicants do not need to provide proof of English Proficiency.

Application Procedures
1. Applicants should send all the documents to admission@sdjzu.edu.cn
2. After the application deadline, SJU will organize a panel of experts to review the application documents. SZU will accept applicants based on the overall assessment of theirs scores and all other supporting documents. During the process, on-line or face-to-face interviews may be conducted, if necessary.
3. In summer of 2020, after the confirmation of the list of admitted applicants, admission packages will be posted to applicants according to the addresses provided by the applicants.
The admitted applicants should register at school in time. The original certificates and diplomas should be examined by SJU on registration.

2. Visa Issue
Students should take Admission Notice to SJU and the Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form or 201 form) to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate for an X1 visa. After entering China, students should change X1 visa into a Residence Permit for foreign students within 30 days. SJU doesn’t accept students with non-student visas.
According to Chinese laws, international students with valid visas must register for temporary accommodation within 24 hours after arriving in or returning to China. Otherwise, new visas and visa extension cannot be processed.
The validity period of a residence permit is generally the same as the period which tuition covers, and the longest validity period is one year. The final validity period issued by the Chinese Immigration Bureau (Entry and Exit Administration Bureau) shall prevail.
3. Insurance
The Ministry of Education of China stipulates that international students coming to China must purchase medical insurance in China. Students are required to provide a copy of their passport on the registration day to purchase medical insurance. Those who do not purchase the required medical insurance cannot complete the registration.
